Lathrop is a city in San Joaquin County, California, United States, located 9 miles (14 km) south of Stockton. Lathrop has an estimated population of 18,023 people according to the 2010 United States Census. The city is situated at the crossroads of Interstate 5 and California State Route 120 in Northern California’s San Joaquin Valley.
On August 1, 1887, the city of Lathrop was established. Wilsons Station was the name given to it because of its proximity to the train. This city is said to have been founded by Leland Stanford. Charles Lathrop, his brother-in-law, was later given the city’s name.
