Wicklund Park

551 Historic St, Tracy, CA 95391, United States

Mountain House has been built to provide residents with various parks and recreational opportunities. Each neighborhood in Mountain House has its own 5-acre Village Park. Some villages have additional tiny community parks with additional family play space. Every Village Park has a ball field, picnic area, and playground for kids. Playgrounds and dedicated tot lots provide a convenient, healthy place for children to play. Picnic areas provide opportunities for families and friends to get together and have some fun outdoors.

This park was the first ever to be built in Mountain House located directly behind the Wicklund Elementary School. It is still a popular go – to place for families looking to get out and enjoy a neighborhood barbecue or watch a baseball match. This 5 acre park includes a baseball diamond, horseshoe pits, picnic tables and a few play facilities for kids including swings as well as a large grassy area for kids to run around or have a Frisbee game. In comparison to some of the other parks in Mountain House, the center of the park also has a well shaded Gazebo which makes it ideal in those hot summer months when temperatures rise to over 100.  Water fountains alongside the Gazebo can also be found.

The design and layout of the playground are very special and enjoyable for children of all ages. They have a large grass area right beside the playground that allows parents to relax and watch the children play. The playground and grass are well maintained, and are ideal for a picnic. This park is a must visit whether you have children, or not. You’d see people on their bikes while you visit the place, grown elderly folks huddled together sharing stories about their families & “old days,” see kids running & playing on the lawn. Definitely a pleasure to see!  There are basketball courts, handball walls (or use to hit tennis balls alone), you can play soccer, jog, yoga, fly kites and look out for a dog poop as certain people are unconsidered and don’t clean up after their pets. In the park, they have music, and special events. Trail around the park and adjacent school is approximately 1 mile per lap.

Park Wicklund is a large park. As soon as you enter the place, you’re greeted by a massive gazebo as soon as you drive into the driveway! It was a pretty structure! Picnic tables & BBQ grills surround it. There’s plenty of grass space even if you want several games running concurrently. There is a children’s play area along with the jungle gym. There is a lot of shade and frankly it’s pretty breezy! When you think of Mountain House, you think of sun or desert.
